چکیده
Abstract Background Over the years, phytomedicines have been widely used as natural modalities for treatment and prevention of various diseases by different ethnic groups across globe. Although, 25% drugs in USA contain at least one plant-derived therapeutic compound, currently there is a paucity active medicinal ingredients pharmaceutical industry. Scientific evidence-based translation ethnomedicines their clinical application an urgent need. The anticancer associated properties (antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, pro-apoptotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) inhibition) plant extracts phytochemicals elucidated earlier. Several derivatives are already use under prophylactic/therapeutic settings against cancer many being investigated phases trials. Main body purpose this study to systematically comprehend progress made area prophylactic potential anticancerous derivatives. Besides, we aim understand terms specific sub-phenomena, such anti-oxidative, inhibition EMT, with insight molecules/pathways them. also provides details classes compounds, source(s) molecular pathway(s) targeted In addition antioxidative antiproliferative potentials derivatives, emphasizes on EMT-inhibition other ‘anticancer related’ properties. EMT highlighted phenomenon choice targeting due its role induction metastasis drug resistance. Different pre-clinical or trials, promising chemopreventive/anticancer activities enlisted compounds showing synergistic activity combination existing discussed. review unravels need carrying out pan-signalome studies identifying cardinal pathways modulated phytomedicine(s), cases, has/have randomly studied. Conclusion This compiles regarding impact cancers oncogenic processes, tested diverse experimental model systems. Availability more comprehensive information phyto-constituents, relative abundance crude drugs, pathways/molecules phytomedicines, long-term toxicity data safe combinatorial settings, would open greater avenues utilization future dreaded disease. Isocorydine derivatives and their anticancer activities.
In order to improve the anticancer activity of isocorydine (ICD), ten isocorydine derivatives were prepared through chemical structure modifications, and their in vitro and in vivo activities were experimentally investigated. 8-Amino-isocorydine (8) and 6a,7-dihydrogen-isocorydione (10) could inhibit the growth of human lung (A549), gastric (SGC7901) and liver (HepG2) cancer cell lines in vitro...
متن کاملMolecular docking studies on xanthohumol derivatives as novel anticancer agents
A set of Xanthohumol derivatives were selected and molecular docking studies of these compounds on thioredoxin reductase were conducted. Based on new structural patterns using in silico-screening study, new potent lead compounds were designed. The results due to validated docking protocols lead to find that Thr58, Gly57, Gly21, Asp334, Glu163, Ala130, IIe332, Val44 and Gly132 are the main a...
متن کاملNew pyridocarbazole derivatives. Synthesis and their in vitro anticancer activity.
In this paper, we describe our results of the synthesis and biological testing of analogues of the natural alkaloids olivacine and ellipticine. We have synthesized fourteen new 1-substituted pyrido[4,3-b]carbazole derivatives. All of them were tested in vitro for their anticancer activity on three human tumor cell lines: CCRF/CEM (T lymphoblast leukemia), A549 (lung adenocarcinoma), and MCF7 (b...
متن کاملTherapeutic aptamers: developmental potential as anticancer drugs
Aptamers, composed of single-stranded DNA or RNA oligonucleotides that interact with target molecules through a specific three-dimensional structure, are selected from pools of combinatorial oligonucleotide libraries. With their high specificity and affinity for target proteins, ease of synthesis and modification, and low immunogenicity and toxicity, aptamers are considered to be attractive mol...
متن کاملAn insight into the therapeutic potential of quinazoline derivatives as anticancer agents
Cancer is one of the major causes of worldwide human mortality. A wide range of cytotoxic drugs are available on the market, and several compounds are in different phases of clinical trials. Many studies suggest that these cytotoxic molecules are also associated with different types of adverse side effects; therefore researchers around the globe are involved in the development of more efficient...
